The Professional Association of Diving
Instructors
(PADI) recognizes that
adventure is one of the key elements
of our program. PADI therefore offers a multilevel
scholarship
program to introduce Sea Scouts and Venture Crews to the
exciting underwater world. PADI
Scuba diving is an exciting avocation or vocation that can be
enjoyed in just about every part of the country.
Scholarships offered include PADI
Open Water Diver Certification, Advanced Open Water Diver,
Rescue Diver, Divemaster, and Instructor Development Courses.

Advanced enlistment in the Coast Guard
- Sea Scouts who have achieved the Sea Scout Able rank can
enlist in the Coast Guard as Seaman Apprentices (E-2), and Sea
Scout Quartermasters can enlist as Coast Guard Seamen (E-3).

VFW "Scout of the Year" Scholarship
- This scholarship competition has been available to Eagle
Scouts only for many years. The Veterans of Foreign Wars (VFW)
are now making these scholarships available to Quartermasters
and Venturing Silver Award recipients.

William M. Minto Memorial Scholarship for Sea Scouts
- This scholarship provides the opportunity for an outstanding
Sea Scout who is a recent high school graduate that has attained
the Sea Scout rank of Able or Quartermaster to attend the Summer
School at Sea Program, Texas A&M University at Galveston. The
approximate value of this scholarship is $3,900 and includes
room and board, tuition, and required fees.

BoatU.S. Grassroots Grants
- Sea Scouts are invited to apply for BoatU.S. Foundation
Grassroots grants. Grants are available in amounts up to $5,000
for special educational programs, events, or campaigns to
promote boating safety. Details are available at the
